Utility Damages Cost Approximately $30 Billion in 2019

According to CGA’s 2019 DIRT Report, damages to buried utilities were estimated to cost the U.S. approximately $30 billion in 2019 alone.

An Enormous Cost

The societal cost of damages in 2019 was more than double the U.S. federal law enforcement budget. The astonishing financial impact of rising damages is a compelling motivator to damage prevention advocates, lawmakers, regulators and others to deepen our commitment to reducing damages and their massive costs to society.
